Error dialog says "Windows is gathering information . . .may take several mins" question
Hi peoples. Home Premium edition. With a windows application .msi deployment that I am develping/testing, this is the cycle that I go through: - build a .msi (VB solution), then use it to install app on my development laptop, then run the app and see how it goes, then log off and log on as Guest User, then run and test the app, then log off and log back on as Admin, then uninstall the app, then make changes to the VB solution, . . . . then start all over again . .. that's the cycle. (I must have gone through this process about a hundred times!! or so it seems!! Phew!!) Basically I am trying to achieve an application that is accessible by all users - - but that's another story. My question is, because my application will not even start up for the guest user, but windows7 flashes up the ".. gathering information ...." message for a few moments, - how do I find out why windows will not run app for guest user - there needs to be a way to read the error log surely? (Weird thing is, it did run for the guest user a few times earlier on, and I have been going around in circles trying to find how I had the app setup - or if it is some other reason?? Now - no matter what I do, it will not run for the Guest now.) Thanks Leon C Stanley - - A dinky di VB'er - -

This is because of permission issue. Guest account is not allowed to access most of files and folders by default.
